Background on BRCA Webinar
WHEN: Fall 2020
FOR WHO: This was a project for my “Health Communications” class.
WHY: 4 other students and I were tasked with presenting a strategy analysis on communications related to breast cancer. We choose to focus on analyzing communications related to BRCA gene mutations.
WHAT: I served as the “Creative Director” and spearheaded the design and development of the PowerPoint presentation and marketing piece that accompanied our webinar. I also was one of the two students who presented this webinar to the class. Click the button at the bottom of this page to view the entire presentation.
We started our presentation by sharing the significance of the gene mutation, those at risk, and it's history in the scientific community and media. Next, we shared a video interview we conducted with a BRCA positive survivor. Then, we identified a target audience to inform about this topic, and examined successful and unsuccessful communications strategies used to reach this audience in 3 case studies.
